What We Do

The world is not what we think.  Our history isn't what we've generally been taught.  Humanity has risen to, and fallen from, great heights.  Though our modern age has seen many advances, we've also lost much knowledge and even technology.  In many ways, we can't even begin to approximate technology that the ancients had mastered.  In many other cases, we have yet to even come close to figure out how they did what they did, and we can't match their accomplishments with all of our technology to aid us.

Unfortunately, there is an arrogant world view, religious in its character, and hostile to dissent or even questioning, that humanity has climbed to its pinnacle after a gradual, upward climb, and that we have little to learn from the ancients other than simple satisfaction of our curiousity regarding disappeared civilizations.

All of the evidence says this is just not so.  Many of our most ancient civilizations, be they the Egyptians, Greeks, Phonecians, Aztecs, Chinese, Sumerians, Hittites, Trojans, etc. did not rise from the muck gradually, but blossomed suddenly, as if they'd been gifted a legacy of civilization, and technology from some mysterious point in pre-history.  All of the "myths" and histories certainly support this notion (and so do many physical artifacts).  In time, as wars, strife, time, disasters had their effects, these civilizations declined as they never entirely had the entire social support structure to maintain advances they'd only inherited, not developed.

Even amongst ancient civilizations we do know much about, there is a level of sophistication and knowledge displayed that should disabuse any notions that we are vastly superior in our modern age.  With far less sophisticated science and technology, the "mundane" ancients accomplished feats that would be difficult for many learned individuals to match today!  Even the engineering in Roman times, something well understood and documented, is ingenious by any standard.  It was unmatched for many centuries, and in many ways most nations today can not actually muster the expertise and match the accomplishments the Romans took for granted.

Ancient Engineers is an assorted group of engineers, scientists, and similar professionals of many different disciplines.  What we all share is an interest in technology, history, civilization, and TRUTH.  There is no dogma except a devotion to uncover the truth, and to increase the store of knowledge we have.

Exchanges are welcome, as are recommendations regarding reading and research.

It is possible that this site will grow commercially, offering merchandise and similar.  Perhaps it will also be a nexus for contracting and employment.  It will be a vehicle for research and the dissemination of knowledge, to include opinion on a wide variety of subjects.  We are open to any ethnicity, religion, or nationality.  This has nothing to do with "politically correct" notions popular amongst many ivory tower types.  We don't consider "diversity" an end, but a means.  Rather, we hold that knowledge knows no borders, ethnicities, gender, or religion in its expression.  If it is true, it is true.  It's up to us all to reconcile our existing political and religious beliefs with the truth, not the truth to our beliefs.

As time passes, this site will change and grow, both in the quality and quantity of its content.  Furthermore, the presentation will change, and features (like site counters, forums, e-commerce, links, etc.) will be added too.  It is all dependent so far on the expertise of one individual who is most assuredly inexpert with HTML and web design, so be patient, but check back time to time to see the additions.
